New Season New Leads: 4 Social Media Trends for Spring 2017 and How They Will Help Skyrocket Your Business in 2017

We are now well into 2017, spring is springing and the industry is already naming its favorite trends to watch for the coming months. (That’s us, marketers, for you. Give us a few months into the calendar and we’ll help you sell next year’s Christmas tree before you even make it to Easter.) From new products coming from your current social favorites to posting trends to keep your eyes peeled for, here are 4 of spring 2017’s hottest marketing trends and why you need to start implementing them today…

Snap (Previously Known as Snapchat) Will Expand Its Outreach.

Snap has really made a name for itself by becoming a real-time social tool that allows people to connect in a way that feels more personal. According to Forbes, this year Snap is seeking to develop even more products occurring outside its run-of-the-mill message system like glasses that work in the real-world to help users capture views from a first-person perspective. If you are not already on Snap, now is the time to jump on board. Industry insiders are expecting big things from this now renamed media mogul.

Twitter May Be Getting Ready to Throw Deuces.

If and when Twitter will make its exit has been a hot topic here lately. At first, people loved the idea of so much information coming and going. However, after a while, that got to be overwhelming. Experts are calling this “Twitter fatigue” and it seems to be a very real phenomenon. There is just too much on our feeds and not enough time in the day. These same experts are predicting a slow-but-evident moving away from Twitter and a desire to take in information in a once-a-day drip. Think Instagram over coffee… “a photo is worth a thousand words.”

Your Audience Is Going to Crave More than Typical.

Think of photo and text posts as something of a primitive introduction to what was possible with social media. We’ve been there. We’ve done that. Now your audience is craving more from you. They are going to want to live vicariously through your eyes and things like live video feeds, 360 videos, and real-time chats are going to help you provide them with new experiences. If you take the driver’s seat now, you still have time to be among the first pioneers to do these newer types of social interactions with your audience on a regular basis.

Imagination is Coming to the Forefront of Marketing.

You already know that being useful and practical in your posts can help you to gain a following. You also know that bringing a touch of emotion to your campaigns can help them to go viral. However, the industry is projecting that there is a new trend in town that maybe even more likely to send you on an upward trend.

Posts that are imaginative and inspirational will be taking center stage this year. “Beautiful” posts with an artistic slant are going to be widely sharable and – bonus alert: They will look “pretty” on your feed. Win/win.

Of course, this is not the last that we will hear about new trends coming to the forefront for the year. After all, we know that us marketing people are always on the cusp of the next big thing. However, these four trends are definitely on the rise and something that you should tune into as you start this new season around the brainstorming table. Keep up with your current platforms, but don’t forget to welcome new blood into the mix. When you do, your company’s image will stay trendy and new long after the new season’s predictions are just a thing of the past.
